The Teaching Assistant assists certified teachers in providing instructional support and educational services to students. The Teaching Assistant works under the direction and supervision of a certified teacher to support student learning, reinforce instructional activities, monitor student progress, and promote a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment.
Include but are not limited to:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid New York State Teaching Assistant certification appropriate to the position, as required.
Ability to work effectively with students and certified instructional staff.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of an educational team.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
